My stake limit was cut after a good month: what happened at a crypto sportsbook
Last winter I had the best month of betting I have ever had. Most of it came from tennis, where I had been following a handful of lower-ranked players closely enough to spot prices I thought were wrong. Around the third week, I tried to place my usual stake and the bet slip offered me about a fifth of it. No email, no message. The maximum had simply shrunk.
I contacted support and got a polite answer: my account limits had been "reviewed". That was all. I still had full access, deposits and withdrawals worked normally, and the casino side of the site was unaffected. Only my sportsbook stakes were capped.
At the time it felt personal. Since then I have read enough and talked to enough other bettors to understand it is routine. Sportsbooks of every kind, crypto or not, manage risk by limiting accounts that win consistently, especially on markets where the book sets its own prices. Crypto books are sometimes more relaxed about this, and some advertise high limits, but none of them are obliged to take any bet you want.
A few things I learned that may help someone else.
The cut usually hits niche markets first. My limits on major football matches stayed higher than on lower-tier tennis, because the book was more confident in its own prices there.
Withdraw your winnings. Once my limits were cut, there was no reason to leave a large balance on the site. My withdrawal went through normally, which was a relief, and it is the thing I would check first if it happens to you.
Keep records. I had a spreadsheet of every bet, which made it easy to show support that I had broken no rules. It did not restore my limits, but it kept the conversation calm.
Spread your betting. I now use three books instead of one, and I place larger bets at the one that prices a market well and shows the most tolerance for stakes on it.
Read the terms on limits before you sign up. Some books state that they may limit stakes at any time. Others describe a process. Either way, knowing it in advance helps.
I do not hold a grudge against that book. It still pays quickly and I still use it for football. I just stopped expecting any single site to accept everything I want to bet.
When I went looking for other crypto sportsbooks after the cut, I used a page that lines them up to see which books were known for higher limits and which ones mainly targeted casual bettors. From there I tested three with small stakes over a month before moving any serious money.
If you are winning steadily, plan for the day a limit arrives. It usually comes without warning, and having a second and third account already open makes it a minor annoyance instead of the end of your season.
